Pilot Traff Count on Your Network
DOTs can start with a limited set of camera locations and a defined study period to evaluate specific traffic counting needs on their local network infrastructure.
Camera Requirements: Fixed roadway cameras with stable mounting and sufficient resolution/frame rate.
Classification: Broad vehicle groups supported; full 13-class FHWA scheme implementation currently in development.
Validation: Independently verified performance studies are available and can be shared upon request.
Error Target: A 10% counting-error threshold is the operational pilot target for validation studies.
Common Inquiries Answered
Does Traff Count require cloud video uploads?
No. Video analysis runs locally on your computer, ensuring data privacy and secure processing for DOT traffic studies.
What footage is it designed for?
Traff Count is designed for recorded footage from fixed roadway cameras. Suitability factors like camera stability and resolution are assessed during the pilot to ensure traffic study accuracy.
Can I choose reporting intervals?
Yes. You can use 10-minute, 15-minute, or custom intervals to match your specific DOT study design and reporting needs.
Can it estimate vehicle speed for traffic studies?
Yes, after local calibration using measured roadway geometry, Traff Count provides calibrated speed estimates to support capacity analysis.
Does it support FHWA classification?
Traff Count provides broad vehicle groups and supports evidence-based FHWA assignments. While exact 13-class axle detection isn't automated, all records are available for QA review.
What data formats can I export?
You can export detailed per-vehicle records in CSV and JSON, sowie Excel summaries and PDF summary tables for Quality Assurance.
